The Missouri Senate is the latest state legislative chamber to pass a major pro-life bill, dubbed the “Missouri Stands With the Unborn Act.” The legislation passed the Senate 24-10 on Thursday and, if signed into law, would ban abortion after the detection of a fetal heartbeat.

Similar to the Alabama Human Life Protection Act singed into law on Wednesday, the Missouri Stands With the Unborn Act has an exemption for the life of the mother but not in cases of rape or incest.

“Today the Missouri Senate passed one of the most pro-life bills in the United States: Missouri Stands for the Unborn Act,” a statement said from state Senators Dave Schatz and Caleb Rowden, both Republicans.

“This comprehensive, life-affirming legislation prohibits abortions once a heartbeat has been detected, prohibits abortions when a baby is capable of feeling pain, and would outlaw abortion in Missouri upon the reversal of Roe v. Wade.”

“HISTORY MADE! Missouri Stands with the Unborn Act (Senator Andrew Koenig) passed by the Senate (24-10),” a tweet from the GOP’s Missouri Senate account celebrated. “No abortions after a heartbeat is detected, no abortions after the baby can feel pain, abortions are outlawed after Roe v. Wade is overturned.”

As noted by NBC News, the legislation “still needs at least another vote of approval in the Missouri House before it can go to Gov. Mike Parson, who is Republican and supports it.”

In January, New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, a Democrat, singed the euphemistically-named Reproductive Health Act, allowing unborn babies to effectively be killed until the moment of birth without any serious restrictions. Cuomo, a Catholic, celebrated the signing “by ordering that the spire at One World Trade Center, the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, the Kosciuszko Bridge and the Alfred E. Smith Building in Albany all be lit in pink,” The Daily Wire previously reported.

“The Reproductive Health Act is a historic victory for New Yorkers and for our progressive values,” cheered the governor at the time. “In the face of a federal government intent on rolling back Roe v. Wade and women’s reproductive rights, I promised that we would enact this critical legislation within the first 30 days of the new session – and we got it done. I am directing that New York’s landmarks be lit in pink to celebrate this achievement and shine a bright light forward for the rest of the nation to follow.”

In the wake of Democrats’ push for abortion-til-birth legislation, the nation has been hit with a pro-life counter. Last week, Georgia passed protections for the unborn once a fetal heartbeat is detected, which occurs at around six weeks’ gestation. Governor Brian Kemp (R-GA) signed the bill into law despite a threatened boycott by Hollywood, headed by the radical pro-abortion activist, actress Alyssa Milano.

“Louisiana is following suit with its own ‘heartbeat’ abortion ban, which was approved unopposed by the Louisiana House Health and Welfare Committee on Wednesday,” noted NBC News.

And the Alabama Human Life Protection Act, signed into law on Wednesday by Governor Kay Ivey (R-AL), completely bans abortion, with a lone exception for the life of the mother.
