President Trump charged Friday that the people who spied on his 2016 presidential campaign committed treason.

“My Campaign for President was conclusively spied on,” he wrote on Twitter. “Nothing like this has ever happened in American Politics. A really bad situation. TREASON means long jail sentences, and this was TREASON!”

In another tweet, he pointed to a new Fox News poll that found 58 percent of Americans believe it’s at least somewhat likely that the FBI broke the law in investigating his campaign.

This week, Attorney General William Barr appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham to investigate the origins of the charge of Trump campaign collusion with Russia. The claim led to a nearly two-year, $35 million special counsel probe that threatened the Trump presidency, damaged his administration and Republicans politically, and set back their agenda.

Meanwhile, the Justice Department’s Inspector General Michael Horowitz is expected to issue a report soon on his investigation into possible FISA abuse by the Obama administration. A House Intelligence Committee probe found that Obama’s DOJ and FBI used the debunked, anti-Trump dossier funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign to obtain warrants from a secret FISA court to spy on the Trump campaign.

In addition, Attorney General Jeff Sessions appointed U.S. Attorney John Huber to investigate potential abuses of power by the Obama Justice Department.

WND reported Thursday that former FBI Director James Comey accused former CIA Director John Brennan of insisting that the bogus dossier be included in the Intelligence Community Assessment report that concluded the Russians interfered in the 2016 election.

However, a former CIA official told Fox News that it was Comey who insisted the dossier be included in the report.
