NFL star Benjamin Watson blasted actress and activist Alyssa Milano for recent remarks she made about how a lack of abortion access negatively affects black women.
Watson, a pro-life activist, has been outspoken about his positive views on family, children, and parenting, and has also included men in on the conversation about eradicating abortion.
What are the details?
Last week, Milano said that restricting black women’s access to abortion would be “catastrophic.”
During a CNN appearance, Milano said that pro-life laws will “affect the communities of color more than anything.”
“I feel like any woman of privilege that lives in one of these states — if this goes through — they’re gonna be able to travel to a state to get a safe, uh, reproductive health care,” she explained. “But for the women of color, for the women that are marginalized, for the women that are low-income communities, for the women that are most at-risk, these bill will be catastrophic.”
Watson slammed the celebrity activist’s remarks in a moving tirade posted on Twitter.
“[For Alyssa Milano] to claim that giving MORE children of color the right to be born will negatively affect ‘women of color’ reveals IGNORANCE, RACISM or some combination of both,” said Watson, who recently signed with the New England Patriots.
“Our children and families are capable of greatness and lies like this harm our future. Dont [sic] patronize us.” he said.
Watson’s wife, Kirsten — also an outspoken advocate for life — gave birth to a set of twins in April. The couple has five other children.
Last week, Kirsten shared a video on YouTube featuring a crafty and intelligent way to dispute the age-old fallacy of “my body, my choice.”
The video has been viewed more than 100,000 times at the time of this writing.
