After Meghan McCain, co-host on ABC’s “The View,” ripped Seth Meyers, host of “Late Night with Seth Meyers” asking if he was the publicist for Rep. Ilhan Omar when Meyers insistently defended Omar from accusations that she had repeatedly used anti-Semitic language, the knives of the Left emerged, determined to cut McCain down.
As noted by Christian Toto of “Hollywood In Toto,” referring to McCain’s takedown of Meyers, “That, apparently, could not be tolerated in select circles. How do we know this? Look at what we’ve seen in just the last few days.”
Toto cited a “Saturday Night Live” supposed parody of “The View,” in which the McCain character consistently protested that the other hosts were not letting her talk. The next night, host John Oliver on HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” took aim at McCain, as Toto reports:
The far-left comic brought up an absurd incident involving the off-spring of a European diplomat. “You may be thinking that’s the most embarrassing child of a prominent political figure you’ve ever seen, but let me remind you of the continued existence of Meghan McCain!”
Toto noted that The Daily Beast recently ran an article titled, “Meghan McCain Demands to Be Taken Seriously by ‘The View’ Co-Hosts” in which a segment of “The View” was described thus: “‘Fine,’ McCain huffed, rolling her eyes, demonstrating clearly that she was ‘clearly frustrated.'”
At the beginning of March, McCain was viciously targeted by a leftist for crying when she discussed anti-Semitism in the United States. As The Daily Wire reported, on “The View,” McCain argued that anti-Semitism should not be a partisan issue while noting her almost familial-ties with Sen. Joe Liberman and his wife Hadas, who are Jewish. McCain stated, “This issue is really intense one for me and just bear with me. Anti-Semitism shouldn’t be a left or right issue. I don’t think we should be politicizing on either side because, as we know, if it’s a tiki torch person in Charlottesville saying ‘Jews will not replace us’ or we had Bari Weiss talking about these more dog whistle moments, that in my view, Ilhan Omar is doing.”
McCain added, “I take this very personally. I don’t have family that is Jewish but Joe Lieberman and Hadas Lieberman are my family. I take the hate crimes rising in this country incredibly seriously, and I think what’s happening in Europe is really scary and I’m sorry if I’m getting emotional. Just because I don’t technically have Jewish family that are blood related to me doesn’t mean that I don’t take this as seriously. It is very dangerous, very dangerous and I think we collectively as Americans on both sides, and what Ilhan Omar is saying is very scary to me and very scary to a lot of people and I don’t think you have to be Jewish to recognize that.
That prompted this:
No doubt McCain is getting under the skin of leftists with her refusal to capitulate to their claptrap, provoking them to try to mock her and possibly shut her down.
It won’t work.
