The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives allowed Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) — who has been widely condemned for her anti-Semitic rhetoric and expressions of sympathy for radical Islamists — to preside over the House yesterday as Speaker Pro Tempore.

“Such an honor to preside over the House Floor tonight. Every day I am humbled to serve the people of my community,” Omar tweeted, later adding: “Impeachment is about upholding the rule of law and protecting our democracy. It’s time Democrats open an impeachment inquiry against the current occupant of the White House.”

Omar has been embroiled in controversy from the moment she was sworn into office due to her anti-Semitic comments and displays of sympathy toward Islamic extremists. Earlier this week, The Daily Wire noted a few of the examples of Omar’s anti-Semitic comments:

Omar has been condemned by Congress and many of her Democratic colleagues multiple times over her blatant anti-Semitism, which includes promoting a conspiracy theory that Nazi Germany used to demonize Jews; supporting the anti-Semitic BDS movement; suggesting that Israel should not be allowed to exist as a Jewish state; claiming without evidence that her “Jewish colleagues” had devised a scheme to silence her criticism of Israel; falsely claiming that pro-Israel groups were paying off American politicians to be loyal to Israel; and claiming without evidence that her Democratic colleagues were expecting her to have dual loyalties.

Omar has also openly sympathized with Islamic extremists. The Daily Wire reported:

In 2016, Omar advocated for compassion and leniency in the sentencing of a group of men who were accused of trying to join ISIS.

Earlier this month, Omar called on the Trump administration from her congressional account to help secure the release of a senior Muslim Brotherhood member from prison in Egypt.

In 2017, Omar was one of only two Minnesota state representatives who voted against a bill that allowed insurance companies to deny life insurance payments to the families of terrorists.

Conservative Review‘s Jordan Schachtel added:

Since entering Congress, Rep. Omar has continued to show a preference for antagonistic U.S. adversaries and throwback Islamist leaders and groups, as opposed to U.S.-friendly Middle East nations and peaceful reform movements worldwide. She has become a regular on the CAIR speaking circuit. The terror-tied Islamist group raised mountains of cash for her congressional campaign.

The Muslim Brotherhood is classified as a terrorist organization in several nations, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Russia, Egypt, and Bahrain. The group has spawned the likes of deceased Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS. Republicans in Congress continue to push legislation and directly appeal to President Trump to classify the MB as a foreign terrorist organization, given its tendency for violence and the group’s extremist, anti-American philosophy.

Earlier this month Omar blamed Israel when Islamic terrorists fired approximately 700 rockets at Israel from the Gaza Strip. “How many more protesters must be shot, rockets must be fired, and little kids must be killed until the endless cycle of violence ends?” she tweeted. “The status quo of occupation and humanitarian crisis in Gaza is unsustainable. Only real justice can bring about security and lasting peace.”
