A helicopter reportedly crashed into a building in New York City on Monday afternoon, sparking a large response from emergency response officials.

The New York Fire Department tweeted: “FDNY members are operating on scene at 787 7th Ave in Manhattan, helicopter crash landing.”

“#FDNY confirms a helicopter has crash-landed onto the roof of 787 7th Ave in Manhattan,” the New York Fire Department added. “The fire has been extinguished, and members continue to operate in response to fuel leaking from the helicopter. There is currently one fatality reported.”

“The incident occurred around 1:45 p.m. during rain and fog,” the New York Post reported. “There is no landing pad on top of the building, officials said, and it was unclear why the pilot tried to land there.”
