As reported by The Daily Wire on Friday, conservative activist and prominent Trump supporter Kathy Zhu was stripped of her Miss Michigan crown from the Miss World America Organization over past “insensitive” social media posts and her refusal to try on a hijab at a college event in 2018.

Zhu, a Chinese immigrant who moved to the United States at age five, was quickly smeared online as a “racist” and a “white supremacist.” The 20-year-old responded on Friday to the smears in tweets and a video post.

“I just want to say thank you for all your support,” started Zhu in a video post. “It’s been a heck of a two days, honestly. Yesterday I was crying when I first saw the messages and emails from the organization, but today is a new day, and today was amazing.”

“I’m so glad the story got brought into the public eye and the media because this is so much bigger than pageantry; this is about an organization discriminating against people with different opinions, calling people ‘racist’ even when they’re not,” she continued.

“Little attacks like those really, really diminish the value and the truth of the word ‘racism,’” Zhu said. “There shouldn’t just be diversity of skin color, there should be diversity of thought, of mindset, of political affiliation.”

“I’m so glad to be the voice for this right now and I hope that other pageant organizations could really learn from this story and the situation, to not discriminate with others based on opinions,” the social media personality added. “Don’t worry, I’ll still stand firm, stand my ground. I’m still going to continue to fight for what I believe in.”

One of the past posts the Miss World America Organization apparently took issue with was a tweet from Zhu concerning black-on-black murder. “Did you know the majority of black deaths are caused by other blacks? Fix problems within your own community first before blaming others,” the tweet in question reads.

In text message screenshots posted by Zhu, Miss World America Michigan State Director Laurie DeJack questioned the beauty pageant participant over the tweet, suggesting it was racist commentary with “no statistics to back it up.”

“How is that racist? It’s statistics. Didn’t know statistics were racist,” responded Zhu via text. “It’s not a statistic,” said DeJack, “It’s a comment with no statistics to back it up.”

“The smearing by the liberal media begins,” Zhu wrote Friday, captioning a screenshot of The Daily Mail Online referring to her as “racist.”

“The left goes crazy when they see a Chinese-America supporting our president. I came to America when I was 5,” said Zhu in another tweet. “My parents and I left our country to come to a place where there are better opportunities, better schools, and the chance to live the American Dream.”

“You are a disgrace to your race,” radio DJ Mimi Chen told Zhu via Twitter.

“What’s disgraceful to our race is that you’re not allowing a 20 year old woman to think for herself,” the Trump supporter responded.

“When the left calls you racist for using statistics to back up your claim, you know you’re on the right side of history,” she posted in another tweet.

Zhu made it clear on Friday that she does not plan to take legal action against the organization because the group has “suffered enough negative publicity.”

“I woke up this morning with an overwhelming amount of support; I can’t thank you all enough. I am glad this story came to light because this is more than just some beauty pageant, this is about the prejudice views against people with ‘different opinions,’” she wrote, adding “I will not be taking any legal action against the organization, I think they have suffered enough negative publicity — especially because they wanted to decrown me due to not wanting bad publicity in the first place. When they go low, we go high.”
