A newborn baby was saved by good Samaritans who found him discarded in a plastic bag behind an abandoned building in Thailand.
Here’s what we know
According to the Daily Mail, the baby boy was discovered by bystanders who heard him crying.
Local authorities are still trying to figure out who the parents of this baby are. The baby was rushed to a nearby hospital and is reportedly doing well.
In a video published by the Daily Mail, rescuers can be seen near a bag filled with what looks like clothing. The bag is sitting on the pavement next to a run-down building. Two police officers appear to be taking a statement from a woman.
Later in the video, a paramedic is holding a baby wrapped in a blanket. The baby’s hair is wet, and he looks like he has only very recently been born.
The Daily Mail quoted Jackchai Banyensakul from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, a local charity, as saying:
The team delivered the baby to the Piyavate hospital located nearby after receiving a call from the man who found him.
The baby was left in a rubbish bag under a tree. If somebody didn’t find him he could have died.
The hospital is in the south of Thailand, just outside the capital city of Bangkok.
Banyensakul also said that there was “a very similar case” near where this baby was found just a few months prior, but in that case rescuers arrived “too late to save the baby.”
