On Thursday night after the Democratic presidential debate, President Trump issued two tweets that not only slammed the prospective candidates for president but also took a hilarious shot at his erstwhile 2016 opponent Hillary Clinton by using words indelibly associated with her.

Trump started by pointing out the incongruity of the candidates ripping him while the country was prospering, writing: “The people on the stage tonight, and last, were not those that will either Make America Great Again or Keep America Great! Our Country now is breaking records in almost every category, from Stock Market to Military to Unemployment. We have prosperity & success like never before. It will soon be time to choose to keep and build upon that prosperity and success, or let it go. We are respected again all around the world. Keep it that way! I said I will never let you down, and I haven’t.”

Then he finished with a flourish and an ironic tip of the hat to Hillary. He wrote, “We will only grow bigger, better and stronger TOGETHER!”

The obvious allusion was to Hillary’s campaign slogan in 2016: “Stronger Together.”

Democrats spent all night ripping Trump; the first shot came from Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, stating, “Donald Trump is not behaving like a patriot.” New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand snapped, “The Republicans and Trump, their whole goal is to take away your health care.” Colorado Senator Michael Bennet added, “That is what this administration has done in the American people’s name. They have turned our border into a symbol of nativist hostility. The symbol of this country before Donald Trump was president was the Statue of Liberty. That should be the symbol of the United States of America, not Donald Trump’s words.”

Former Vice President Joe Biden: “The fact of the matter is that, in fact, when people cross the border illegally, it is illegal to do it unless they’re seeking asylum. People should have to get in line. That’s the problem. And the only reason this particular part of the law is being abused is because of Donald Trump.” New Jersey Senator Cory Booker: “But the criminal courts is (sic) what is giving Donald Trump the ability to truly violate the human rights of people coming to our country, who no one surrenders their human rights.” Gillibrand again: “President Trump, under his administration seven children died in his custody. In — under his administration families have been torn apart.” California Senator Kamala Harris: “And one of the things that we’ve got to be clear about is that this president of the United States, Donald Trump, while he has been in office, has quietly been allowing the United States Department of Justice to shut down consent decrees, to stop pattern and practice investigations.”

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio: “Donald Trump right on cue will call us socialists. Well, here’s what I’ll say to him. Donald, you’re the real socialist.” Washington Governor Jay Inslee: “For decades, we have kicked the can down the road on climate change. And now under Donald Trump, we face a looming catastrophe.” Former HUD Secretary Julian Castro: “Donald Trump has not been bashful in his cruelty.” Booker: “We have a real crisis in our country, and the crisis is Donald Trump.” Harris: “I will tell you, we have a predator living in the White House.”

The Democrats seemed to be “stronger together” only when they were attacking President Trump.

Ten against one makes it almost even.
