Homosexuality isn’t just frowned upon in most Muslim nations. It’s banned.
The penalty, over the past few years, has included punishments like being bound hand and foot and then thrown off a tall building
But now there are plans, according to a report in Breaking Israel News, to stage a gay pride parade in an Arab village.
It is to happen in Tamra.
The goal, says organizer Noam Federman, described in BIN as “a right-wing religious Jewish activist,” is to “expose the intolerance of Muslim society to the LGBT community.”
He explained to BIN the move was inspired by reports of a stabbing.
It happened to a “gay Arab” at a gay hostel in Tel Aviv, the report said.
The victim, before he lost consciousness, identified the attacker as his brother, who reportedly was angered by his confirmation of his sexual lifestyle choice.
Federman told BIN he wants to put on display the “homophobia” in Arab streets.
He noted that in order to help confirm the sentiments, he’s “organizing a pride parade in Tamra. I’m sure they’ll all come out en mass,” Federman said.
It’s scheduled for August 19.
“Federman admitted that he doesn’t know if any actual members of the gay community will join him but did add that he will invite all of the LGBT organizations to ‘take part in this historic moment’ – the first pride parade in an Arab village,” BIN reported.
