Al-Qaeda has leaked an embarrassing clip showing an ISIS militant struggling to get through his lines for a propaganda video, as tension between the rival jihadi groups heats up.

What are the details?

The footage was released on Twitter by Dr. Elizabeth Kendall, a Middle East expert at Oxford University with the message: “Heroic bird relentlessly drowns out ISIS-Y’s attempt to renew allegiance to the caliph. Leader’s feeble memory adds to the woes…These bodged ‘takes’ didn’t make it into the official video of this solemn event.”

The militant featured in the video can be seen repeatedly flubbing his lines as a friend encourages him to “stay calm,” and “keep cool.”

Dr. Kendall later noted that she had traced the original blooper-free ISIS video to Sept. 2017, and said Al Qaeda likely stumbled upon the blooper footage “when it overran the ISIS camp in Qayfa Yemen this summer.” A report by The Telegraph suggested the clip could have been leaked by a defector.

Fox News reported that Al Qaeda title the flubbed outtakes video as, “The Hollywood reality of al-Baghdadi group – Part 2,” referring to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and pointed out that “the video is intended to mock Al Qaeda’s rival, as both groups fight for territory and loyalty to Yemen.”

According to The Telegraph, violence between the two terrorist organizations has escalated in recent months, and ISIS “has deployed suicide bombers against al-Qaeda positions.”
