It took until April for the medical investigator to release his report, which determined that Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick died the day after the storming of the Capitol from natural causes, and there were no indications of injuries — putting to rest the narrative that he was bludgeoned to death by a Trump supporter with a fire extinguisher, the claim that originally made the rounds in the media but was then corrected (by some).
Or maybe the narrative has not been put to rest. After CNN’s Don Lemon interviewed Capitol Police officer Michael Fanone about the Capitol attack, Rep. Jason Crow jumped on Twitter and said he would not let anyone sweep under the rug the fact that the mob killed an officer January 6.
Jan. 6 was a dangerous and violent day. The mob killed an officer and brutally beat many others.
Thank you Officer Fanone for your continued service and telling the story of that day.
I won’t let anyone sweep it under the rug. We won’t forget. https://t.co/PfH1ZCvrXp

Why is this member of Congress still falsely claiming that the mob “killed an officer” on January 6 when the DC Medical Examiner specifically rejected that theory after a comprehensive 3+ month evaluation https://t.co/BejJWdQZLK
— Michael Tracey (@mtracey) April 28, 2021
The mob did not “[kill] an officer”, you liar. An officer killed a Trump supporter though.
— Okay. (@corrcomm) April 28, 2021
Hey flamethrowing asshat, what officer was killed by the “mob” on Jan 6?
— ƬЄƛƓƛƝ ƦЄƖԼԼƳ🍸 (@velvethammer) April 28, 2021
This is a lie.
— Lazy Crusader (@GrumpyGlanton) April 28, 2021
Nobody killed a police officer on January 6th.
You’re as bad of a conspiracy theorist as any QAnon loony.
— Business Master Crapplefratz (@Crapplefratz) April 28, 2021
Remember that time they didn’t actually kill any cops during the Jan 6 riot?
— Finsettler (@finsettler) April 28, 2021
Officer died of natural causeshttps://t.co/WZFEHXlPBH
— Lil Hangleton (@dsonoiki) April 28, 2021
“The mob killed an officer” is a demonstrable lie.
— Georgi (@bill_hicks_fan) April 28, 2021
No, they didn’t. For the party of “facts matter”, you sure love throwing around long debunked lies.
— Allen Harris (@BanTheFox4761) April 28, 2021
Actually a cop killed an unarmed lady that’s it
— Prospiracy (@Prospiracy) April 28, 2021
What was swept under the rug is the Capitol Police executed a woman in cold blood.
— Geopolog (@Geopolog) April 28, 2021
They didn’t kill an officer, though. There are multiple articles about it. You can say something is bad without lying about it.

The mob didn’t kill an officer. The Washington DC medical examiner made that abundantly clear. @TwitterSupport, you guys going to do anything about this dangerous misinformation or nah?
— Dan O’Donnell (@DanODonnellShow) April 28, 2021
What officer was killed?
— Marilyn Smith (@Marilyn_Smith) April 28, 2021
That’s false. When are you apologizing for lying?
— Laronthor de Gadmond (@Gingiman) April 28, 2021
Why are you lying to your constituents about the Jan. 6 riot? The mob didn’t kill officer Siknick. Officer Siknick died of natural causes. He had a stroke. You use to be a member of the military, please act like it and find some honor and integrity. https://t.co/dQvKc9o9SB
— Chris Manning (@Manning4USCong) April 28, 2021
No, they didn’t. Only one person was killed and she wasn’t a cop. We don’t even know the name of the officer that shot her. Probably because she was white and right-wing.
Fact check: no officer was killed.
— Hog Justice (@Hogarchism) April 28, 2021
Does the constant lying ever get tiring?
— Columnated Ruins (@ColumnatedR) April 28, 2021
Which officer was killed by “the mob”.
I’ll wait 🙄
— Gary Thurner (@GaryThurner) April 28, 2021
Where are the fact checkers when you need them….even the officer’s family claim he died of a stroke. https://t.co/ms4Vmn8AaB
— TheChurchOfTechno (@ChurchTechno) April 28, 2021
Why are you still repeating the lie about Officer Sicknick being murdered? https://t.co/dTPQXy5sU6
— planefag (@planefag) April 28, 2021
Strange, I read that Officer Sicknick died of natural causes. This was months later, as the autopsy report was suppressed for some reason. Yet here you are still lying about it.
— …Meh (@gbfergason) April 28, 2021
Why would you @RepJasonCrow, as an elected official, come on Twitter and outright lie about what happened on Jan 6th? You know damn well there was no officer killed and here you are…telling everyone there was one. You should be ashamed of yourself.
— Steve-N-Texas (@SteveNTexas7) April 28, 2021
The mob killed an officer? Here’s some context many on this thread are missing:https://t.co/LvLUsSJe8Z
— LectioDivina (@LectioDivina7) April 28, 2021
I hope you know that’s not true. There’s a very serious falsehood in your statement. It’s hard to believe you were not properly informed so why are you lying about this serious matter?
— Michael Nordman (@nordm) April 28, 2021
@TwitterSupport Y’all going to fact check this tweet or take it down?
— Ligma B (@ElDangerousJuan) April 28, 2021
No officer was killed. This has been refuted by the medical examiner and “Washington Post” reporting. Your tweet demonstrates either willful disinformation or evidence you don’t read the news, which is shocking.
— Zeck-uh-ry (@Zachary_f321) April 28, 2021
Nevertheless, Crow will not forget how a mob killed an officer that day. He won’t let anybody sweep it under the rug … as they did with the name of the man who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt.
