The Washington, D.C. government has banned dancing at wedding receptions due to COVID-19.

According to Mayor Muriel Bowser’s updated phase two coronavirus guidelines, up to 250 people are permitted to attend weddings and “special non-recurring events” in the District of Columbia but the gatherings cannot exceed 25% capacity.

The guidelines state that “standing and dancing receptions are not allowed” and “attendees and guests must remain seated and socially distanced from each other or other household groups.”

The updated rules took effect on Saturday.

Bowser, a Democrat, has also imposed a mask order for fully vaccinated individuals who attend public gatherings or indoor events in the District with crowds, according to media reports.
