(CNS News) — The National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the largest police union in the United States representing more than 356,000 members, issued a tweet today about gun violence against police officers, noting that between Jan. 1 and April 30, 2021, 19 officers were killed by gunfire.

“The violence against law enforcement MUST STOP!” reads the tweet. 

It continues, “So far this year:

— 91 officers shot

— 19 officers killed by gunfire

— 23 officers shot in 18 separate ambush attacks.”

“It’s time for EVERYONE to #SupportThePolice and say #EnoughIsEnough,” reads the tweet, which includes a graphic post with the gun violence data, “Update: 2021 By The Numbers.”

The data were collected by the National Fraternal Order of Police. 

According to its website, the FOP includes “more than 2,100 local lodges and more than 356,000 members in the United States. The Fraternal Order of Police has become the largest professional police organization in the country.”
