An immigration enforcement advocate says the administration’s open-border policy is encouraging the kind of illegal activity that led to the discovery of a disturbing human smuggling case in Houston.

After responding to a kidnapping call, Houston police on Friday discovered more than 90 illegal immigrants confined in a five-bedroom, two-bath, 2,300-square-foot home – apparently victims of human smuggling. Neighbors told police that they were unaware that so many people were in the house, which reportedly was rented to single man. Authorities say multiple people inside reported possible coronavirus symptoms.

Ira Mehlman is a spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform. He maintains situations like that discovered last week in Houston are a consequence of President Joe Biden’s open-border policy.

“… Obviously when you have these houses full of people who have been smuggled across the border, it’s an indication that the criminal cartels are cleaning up on the president’s policy here,” he tells One News Now.

“They’re making $14 million a day, allegedly, smuggling people across the border,” he continues. “They bring them into the United States and they want to make sure they’re going to get paid. And so you have these situations where you have people who are just jammed into houses for whatever reason these criminal cartels see fit to hold them.”

And Mehlman says this isn’t the sort of situation that should be occurring these days.

“Treating people as though they were some kind of a commodity to be bought and sold is something that we should have moved past a long time ago,” he shares. “And it is happening because we have a president who is encouraging this sort of illegal activity.”

According to Houston police, no children were among the people found in the house; five were females and the rest were male.
