Former Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio has officially taken his name out of the hat in the race for New York’s next governor; Blas shared the news in a video posted to Twitter.

“I am not going to be running for Governor of New York State, but I am going to devote every fiber of my being to fighting inequality in the state of New York,” the Tweet said.

“Let’s keep this fight going, ’cause we proved change can happen in New York,” de Blasio says in the video.

“The news comes as Gov. Kathy Hochul’s lead in the Democratic primary for governor of New York grew to over 30 points beyond her closest competitor, according to a new poll, indicating his previously expected gubernatorial bid would have been a steep climb,” the New York Post Reports.
