According to the Post Millennial, reports out of Ottawa are saying that Police Chief Peter Sloly is resigning, effective immediately. Sloly will be leaving during the 19th day of the freedom convoy protests in the nation’s capital.

An announcement is expected Tuesday.

Last week, Sloly said that there was “absolutely [no]” plans to resign as police chief, telling Newstalk 580 CFRA that he “came here to do a job.”

“I came here to do a job and I’m going to get that job done all the way through,” he said, according to CTV News. “Absolutely committed, have a great team here, great officers, we’ve got great partners in the city. We’re going to get this done.”

Sounds like that’s no longer the plan.

According to CBC, “Sloly’s resignation comes as sources tell CBC News he’s been accused of bullying and volatile behavior that has damaged relations with senior leadership and compromised the force’s ability to cope with the truck protest.”

“Multiple sources have told CBC News that Sloly allegedly belittled and berated senior Ottawa Police Service officers in front of their colleagues, and has failed to put forward a solid operations plan to end the crisis.”
