A mainstream media journalist was mocked and ridiculed on social media after he said he was surprised by the New York Times verifying the authenticity of emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop.

The authenticity of emails from a laptop abandoned by Hunter Biden at a computer store just ahead of the 2020 election became a contentious issue when the media derided the story as Russian disinformation. On Wednesday, the New York Times admitted that they were authentic and that there was no evidence to believe the Russians had planted any of them.

The possibility apparently surprised Michael Isikoff, the investigative correspondent for Yahoo! News.

“In the category of – didn’t see this coming : The ⁦@nytimes⁩ confirms the authenticity of Hunter Biden emails derived from his laptop that had been previously dismissed as Russian disinformation,” tweeted Isikoff.

Many on social media derided him over the comment.

“How did you not see this coming? like, literally everyone saw this coming,” responded Emily Zanotti of Fox News Digital.

“How did you not see this coming? You’re in the news business and the evidence has been public for 18 months,” replied businessman Joe Colangel’O.

“I saw it in October 2020 when we at the Daily Caller confirmed the email’s authenticity while you people had your noses shoved firmly up Joe Biden’s ass,” responded Greg Price.

“And once again you prove why nobody should trust you. Hunter NEVER denied it was his laptop. It was known from day 1 it was really his. It was known from day 1 the ‘Russian disinformation’ line was simply a BS ploy to help Biden in the election since this was damaging,” read another tweet.

Others on the left were angered at the New York Times for the admission.

“The Times is literally trying to rehab Giuliani’s smear op? Wow. A new low,” said one popular Twitter leftist.
