Harris Faulkner accused Disney of trying to take away “innocence for our children.” The Fox News anchor criticized Disney for publicly opposing the Parental Rights in Education law that protects children in grades kindergarten through third grade from being exposed to communication about sexual topics.
Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law the Parental Rights in Education bill on Monday that prohibits classroom instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity. Immediately after it was signed into law, the Walt Disney Co. railed against the new legislation by spreading misinformation.
Disney falsely labeled the Parental Rights in Education law as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill – a Democrat talking point that is incorrect since there is no mention of the word “gay” or stipulation that prohibits people from saying the word “gay.”
The media conglomerate that targets children argued that Florida’s HB 1557 “should never have passed and should never have been signed into law.”
“Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that,” Disney said in a statement. “We are dedicated to standing up for the rights and safety of LGBTQ+ members of the Disney family, as well as the LGBTQ+ community in Florida and across the country.”
Faulkner skewered Disney for bringing woke politics into what should be an innocent family experience that provides treasured moments for a lifetime.
“My issue is when I go to Disney with my children, I don’t want politics with my magic wand,” Faulkner said during Friday’s episode of “Outnumbered.” “I don’t want what’s served with the deliciousness of all the treats and the daily parade for things to be exposed to my children that I have to take a moment to explain that doesn’t have anything to do with the fun, and they’re five.”
Faulkner then said the parental rights bill in Florida is about children in “kindergarten to third grade,” who are at “tender ages.”
“It takes away a kind of innocence for our children,” Faulkner said, according to the Daily Wire. “We’re supposed to do with them. We’re supposed to live through that journey with them. But also give them our values.”
Also during Friday’s show, Faulkner and her guests discussed Disney’s plan to discontinue the use of “ladies and gentlemen” or “boys and girls” at theme parks in an effort to promote gender inclusivity, according to Vivian Ware – Disney’s diversity and inclusion manager.
The always outspoken Piers Morgan weighed in, “When did we accept this neutralizing of all gender-specific terms in our country in a democracy?”
Morgan continued, “Where is my right to be called a man? My right to be called the gentleman if people would like to call me that? Why are the rights of the vast majority of people who want to be called ladies, gentleman, boy, girl, why are they considered to be utterly irrelevant?”
Faulkner suggested that people don’t stand up against these issues because they are afraid of “being canceled.”
“And what we have to do is remind everybody that speaking up and speaking out are not reasons to be canceled,” Faulkner declared. “You did not get to hit people when they don’t agree with you — Will Smith — because a joke isn’t what you would want it to be.”
Faulkner added, “You don’t get to cancel everything. But you asked a question about basically the civil rights of individuals in our country.”
