New York Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul in a likely General Election matchup with GOP frontrunner Rep. Lee Zeldin, a recent survey shows.

About 35% of voters said they favored Hochul, compared to 31% said Zeldin in a hypothetical matchup was their pick, leaving about one-third of voters undecided ahead of the November election, according Co/Efficient, a research firm for the Republican consulting firm Big Dog Strategies.

The same survey, shows Zeldin with a 6-percentage-point lead over former Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, in another hypothetical matchup.

The poll assumes that Zeldin and Hochul will be their respective party’s respective party nominees, despite primary challengers in both camps.

The survey also found that Hochul, who as lieutenant governor replaced Cuomo, who resigned in August 2021 amid numerous sexual harassment allegations, has large unfavorable rating. Forty-one percent of those survey had an unfavorable view of her job performance thus far, compared to 31% viewing her favorably. More than 25% of voters were undecided.
