Omarosa Manigault Newman, a former Trump White House employee, has been awarded over $1.3 million in legal fees in fa legal battle over whether she had violated a non-disclosure agreement from the 2016 Trump campaign.

The legal proceeding started with 2016 presidential campaign for Donald Trump filing an arbitration suit in August of 2018, the same day Manigault Newman released her book “Unhinged: An Insiders Account of the Trump White House.”

The arbiter ultimately decided in favor of Manigault Newman and rejected the campaign’s claims that she had violated the NDA.

Manigault Newman worked on the campaign and briefly for the administration. She first gained notoriety as a contestant on the first season of Trump’s former reality TV show “The Apprentice.”

The arbiter concluded that the NDA was “overbroad, indefinite, and unreasonable,” and that its terms reached “far beyond what would be reasonably expected to protect” the interests of the campaign.

Manigault Newman has initially requested more than $3.4 million in legal fees and costs, but the arbiter refused to sign off on the “staggering fee request” instead running his own calculations that brought him to the $1,310,873.48 figure.
