Comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked by an audience member during Tuesday night’s show at the Hollywood Bowl. The assailant was quickly apprehended by security, and Chappelle was able to finish out the show.

Chappelle and fellow comedians were performing as part of the Netflix is A Joke festival.

According to the New York Post, “LAPD spokesperson Officer Lizeth Lomeli said Wednesday the suspect was carrying a replica handgun with a blade inside.”

“The suspect, whose identity was not released, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, Lomeli said. He was brought to a local hospital and once he is released, he will be booked in jail,” the Post continues.

After the attack, Chris Rock came on stage, hugged Chappelle, and made light of his recent run in with an angry audience member.

“Was that Will Smith?” Rock said.
