U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than 900 pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of over $18 million, authorities said.

The Laredo, Texas, agents discovered the drugs on May 6 at the World Trade Bridge, over the Rio Grande River, when a CBP officer referred a trailer hauling a stainless-steel scrap for a secondary inspection.

CBP described the driver as “a 33-year-old Mexican citizen arriving from Mexico.”

Agents inspected the trailer with a canine and a non-intrusive imaging system and discovered 912.82 pounds of alleged meth in the vehicle, border protection claimed.

The narcotics, worth an estimated $18,253,206, and the vehicle were seized by CBP.

Special agents at Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations arrested the driver and are investigating the case.
