America is so over it.

A majority of Americans say they are not worried about “experiencing” the symptoms of COVID-19, according to a new poll.

“Taking into consideration both your risk of contracting it and the seriousness of the illness, how worried are you personally about experiencing COVID-19?” the survey by YouGov and The Economist asked.

Some 57% said they are not worried, with 30% saying they are “not too worried” and 27% saying they are “not worried at all.” On the other side, 43% said they are worried, with 23% “somewhat worried” but just 15% “very worried.”

On masks, the poll asked respondents if they wore one outside their home in the previous week. More than a third (39%) said they “never” wear a mask, while a quarter said they do “some of the time.” On the other side, 35% said they wear masks, with 19% saying “always” and 16% saying “most of the time.”

And 53% said “the worst part of the pandemic is behind us,” while just 15% said, “the pandemic is going to get worse.”

The survey of 1,500 American adults, taken May 8-10, had some other interesting findings. A majority (57%) said inflation is a more serious problem than unemployment (8%). And 77% said America was “off on the wrong track” when it comes to inflation and prices, with just 10% saying the country is “generally headed in the right direction.”

In addition, 84% said inflation is a “very serious” or “somewhat serious” problem. And nearly half (47%) believe six months from now there will be a “higher rate of inflation.” And a majority (52%) think there will be “higher gas prices” than there are now.

The poll findings come after President Joe Biden recently marked a grim milestone as the United States passed 1 million deaths of Americans who had contracted COVID-19.

“Today, we mark a tragic milestone: one million American lives lost to COVID-19. One million empty chairs around the dinner table. Each an irreplaceable loss. Each leaving behind a family, a community, and a nation forever changed because of this pandemic. Jill and I pray for each of them,” Biden said in a statement released on Thursday morning.

Earlier last week, the Biden administration warned that the U.S. could see as many as 100 million COVID-19 infections this fall and winter.

“The projection of 100 million potential infections is an estimate based on a range of outside models that are being closely tracked by the administration and would include both the fall and winter, a senior administration official told CNN,” the network reported. “Officials say this estimate is based on an underlying assumption of no additional resources or extra mitigation measures being taken, including new Covid-19 funding from Congress, or dramatic new variants.”
