Next Step Pregnancy Center was vandalized earlier this week in Lynnwood, as threatening spray-painted messages donned the facility’s walls alongside broken windows.

“It was late, very late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning,” said Heather Vasquez, the Director of Next Step Pregnancy Center, on the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH. “It sounds like one person that we could see on the video came by and just took it upon themselves to throw rocks and break five of our front windows. And then spray painted all over the front door and the front walkway and in the back walkway in the wall.”

The message in red paint stated ‘abortion isn’t safe, neither are you,’ which has become a slogan for some pro-abortion rights activists and groups.

“In the back, they wrote Jane’s revenge,” Vasquez said. “I think they were referring to Jane Roe, probably.”

The damage did not prevent the clinic from staying open to serve clients. The Lynnwood police were notified and a case has been opened.

“I believe that we were targeted because a lot of people, including maybe that person, are very misinformed and misguided about what really goes on in a pregnancy resource clinic,” Vasquez said. “I think there’s a lot of misconceptions about what’s really happening here. But none of them ever want to come in and, you know, be with us and see what happens day to day.”

Vasquez estimates the damages totaled approximately $5,000.

“I just hope it doesn’t happen again, only because we got other things going on, other important things in the world are happening,” Vasquez said. “We don’t have time for this. I mean, if they’re really that pro-choice, I don’t understand why they care what we’re doing. If a woman chooses to come here and get our assistance, she made a choice. So why can’t she go where she wants to go?”

The same spray-painted message appeared when vandals set fire to the headquarters of Wisconsin Family Action, an anti-abortion-rights political action committee located in Madison. This occurred just a week after the Supreme Case draft leaked over the potential to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Four “pro-life” churches in Olympia were also vandalized last Sunday with similar spray-painted threatening messages.

A group called “Jane’s Revenge, Bo Brown Memorial Cell” took credit for the vandalism in a post on the website Abolition Media. The group admitted painting graffiti on The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building on the north side of Olympia, Calvary Chapel, Harbor Church, and St. Michael Catholic Church early Sunday morning, leaving messages like “If abortions aren’t safe then neither are you,” “Abort the church,” and “God loves abortion.”
