The real reason companies like Disney and Tesla are paying for employees to get abortions.
Last week, the United States Supreme Court overturned the absurd “Roe vs. Wade” decision of 1973 which — for almost fifty years — made the claim that abortion was a “constitutional right” shoe-horned into American life under the notion of “privacy.”
63 million murdered unborn babies later, Roe vs. Wade — which now-President Joe Biden previously described as “wrongly decided” — is gone. But the psychotic bloodthirsty lunatics who view on-demand abortion — anywhere at any time for any reason — are still here, and louder than ever before.
Blind to the fact that overruling Roe vs. Wade and sending the issue of abortion back to individual states is more democratic than any decision made by the judicial branch, the claim remains that undoing an undemocratic and authoritarian act is itself undemocratic.
Protesters took to the streets in California, New York, Illinois, and New Jersey over the weekend — despite the fact that each of these states (and at least sixteen more) will likely expand their already radically expansive abortion “access” systems.
Concurrently, numerous corporations announced that — for employees who live in a state which respects the rights of the unborn — they would reimburse any abortion-related expenses for those who are so desperate to kill their own child that they’re willing to cross state lines.
Disney announced that they remain “committed to removing barriers and providing comprehensive access to quality and affordable care for all of our employees, cast members and their families, including family planning and reproductive care, no matter where they live.”
DICK’s Sporting Goods will provide employee with “up to $4,000 in travel expense reimbursement to travel to the nearest location where that care is legally available,” Goldman Sachs will expand its health-related travel reimbursement policies “to include all medical procedures, treatments and evaluations, including abortion services and gender-affirming care where a provider is not available in proximity to where our people live,” and JPMorgan will now pay for out-of-state abortions.
Oh, and Tesla — whose co-founder Elon Musk became an overnight hero among American conservatives because he trolls Leftists on social media — will also be covering expenses for employees who travel out-of-state for an abortion. Perhaps conservatives should pump the brakes before choosing their adored heroes based on “owning the libs” — a topic for tomorrow’s column?
While the pro-abortion movement is celebrating this widespread corporate response, they’re missing one crucial detail: this has nothing to do with “women’s rights,” and everything to do with profiteering.
If it takes the murder of the unborn to protect their profits, so be it!
For these female employees — yes, because only women can have babies, y’all — what is the alternative to abortion? The likely alternative is giving birth to a human being and then taking maternity leave to care for the newborn child.
Later, some women may never return to the workforce.
Currently, The Walt Disney Company offers employees 5 weeks of paid maternity leave, followed by 4 weeks of unpaid maternity leave. Tesla offers 12 weeks maternity leave, while Goldman Sachs offers new parents a whopping 20 weeks of leave.
And what’s cheaper than paid leave and loss of productivity? A few days off to get an abortion.
In a world where women are actively encouraged to murder their unborn children in pursuit of “equality,” is it any surprise that corporations would be willing to throw a few dollars in their direction to protect their bottom line?
