Former President Trump is threatening CNN with a lawsuit over what he calls “defamatory statements.”

“I have notified CNN of my intent to file a lawsuit over their repeated defamatory statements against me,” Trump said in a statement. “I will also be commencing actions against other media outlets who have defamed me and defrauded the public regarding the overwhelming evidence of fraud throughout the 2020 Election.”

Trump’s lawyers allege that because Donald Trump “subjectively believes that the results of the 2020 presidential election turned on fraudulent voting activity in several key states,” his remarks should not be considered lies.

Trump’s previous lawsuits alleging election fraud have been dismissed by judges who say they lack sufficient evidence.

Trump has previously threatened to sue other media outlets, including the New York Times, but has never followed through.

The letter from Trump’s attorneys to CNN demanded the retraction or correction of numerous statements that were made in “numerous articles and televised transmissions” within 10 days.

Many of the disputed statements stemmed from Trump’s claims of “stolen election” in 2020, but Trump’s lawsuit cites instances as early as 2016, when the network aired coverage of the “Russian collusion” conspiracy.
