The Democrat-led Senate on Sunday narrowly passed a massive spending and tax bill on a party line vote, with Vice President Kamala Harris casting the decisive, tie-breaker for Democrats.
The Inflation Reduction Act has the support of the Biden administration, which argues the bill would promote clean energy and reduce health care costs.
Most Republicans, meanwhile, oppose the bill, arguing it will raise taxes for all Americans and further fuel soaring inflation.
The bill now goes to the Democrat-controlled House, where it’s expected to be approved and sent to President Biden’s desk to be signed into law.
