Consumer prices increase 0.1% from July to August, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said Tuesday.

The agency’s Consumer Price Index also show prices increased from August 2021 to August 2022 at an annualized rate of 8.3%

Price from August 2021 to August 2022 were expected to increase 8.1%, and July-to-August 2022 prices were expected to decline 0.1%, according to estimates from Bloomberg.

The bureau said food, shelter and medical expenses were among the largest cost increases.
