Two buses with migrants sent by Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott from the Lone Star State arrived early Thursday morning outside of Vice President Kamala Harris’ official residence in Washington, D.C.

Their arrival came hours after Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis sent two planes of illegal migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, the exclusive island off Massachusetts, that landed Wednesday evening.

Both moves are part of an escalating effort by GOP governors to send migrants from the U.S. southern border to liberal jurisdictions across the country — some known as so-called sanctuary cities — to relieve border state taxpayers of the economic burden and to publicly illustrate that the country’s immigration problems are national, not local or regional.

Over the past few months, Abbott has been sending migrants to D.C., Chicago, and New York City to deal with record levels of illegal immigration.

Are these steps by Abbott and DeSantis appropriate to deal with an influx of illegal immigration and send a message to those advocating a laxer approach to border security? Or are they political stunts and damaging to local communities? Here’s your chance to weigh in:
