A gunman reportedly opened fire Monday at a military draft office in Russia’s Siberian region, amid backlash for President Putin’s recent effort to get more troops to fight in the country’s war against Ukraine.

The incident occurred in the far-eastern city of Ust-Ilimsk, according to NBC News. The unidentified shooter seriously injured the recruiting officer, a Russian official told news outlets.

An online video, confirmed by NBC News to have been shot in the draft office, shows people inside running for cover and screaming as the gunman begins shooting.

The shooter has been taken into custody.

Authorities have not said what was the shooter’s motivation, but Russians appear increasingly upset about the war effort that is now roughly 7 months old.

Some residents have fled the country or have protested in the streets, resulting in a reported 2,300-plus arrests.
