Fox News’ Peter Doocy couldn’t get a straight answer on Monday when he asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre if President Joe Biden thought America’s big cities are safe.

“Does President Biden think America’s big cities are safe?” Doocy began. “We know that deaths and robberies are up about 20 percent in the first half of this year, so I’m wondering if he thinks America’s big cities are safe.”

KJP went into a very long, convoluted non-answer.

“Look, this is a president who has secured historic funding to make sure law enforcement has what it needs. And he was able to do this in the face of opposition from Republicans,” Jean-Pierre responded.

“Jean-Pierre went on to say that Biden’s American Rescue Plan included ‘more than $300 billion’ in funding for states and local groups to hire more law enforcement,” Fox reports.

Doocy tried to keep KJP on track: “Just the original question: Does President Biden think America’s big cities are safe?” Doocy pressed.

“It is not a yes or no question. It is very much a question of what has he done…to make sure that cities…have the funding and have what they need to protect their community, and that is what the president has done,” Jean-Pierre responded.

A recent ABC/WaPo poll shows crime is a more important issue to voters than abortion.

From Fox News:

According to the survey produced for ABC News by Langer Research Associates in New York City, the economy (89%), education (77%) and inflation (76%) topped out the issues voters consider “highly important” as midterms loom, but those issues were followed closely by crime at 69%, which beat out abortion at 62%.

Immigration and climate change brought up the rear at 61% and 50%, respectively.

Asked which political party they trust to do a better job handling key issues, respondents answered 52% in favor of the Republican Party when it comes to crime, compared to 38% for Democrats.

The researchers noted that the GOP’s 14-point advantage among respondents regarding crime is the highest it has been since 1991.
