Hollywood screen legend Angela Lansbury died peacefully in her home in Los Angeles just a few days short of celebrating her 97th birthday, family members have confirmed.

“The children of Dame Angela Lansbury are sad to announce that their mother died peacefully in her sleep at home in Los Angeles at 1:30 AM today, Tuesday, October 11, 2022, just five days shy of her 97th birthday,” her family shared in a statement.

Lansbury is known to various generations — from her work on the hit show “Murder She Wrote” in the 1980s, and to children for her iconic voice as Mrs. Potts in the Disney classic animated feature “Beauty and the Beast.”
