The event management and ticketing website sent an email on Tuesday to the Conservative Partnership Institute (CPI) informing leadership that the event listing for the screening — which is scheduled to occur on Wednesday — was being removed from the website.
Policy Director Rachel Bovard shared a screenshot of the email along with the comment, “At @CPInst, we’re hosting a screening of @MattWalshBlog’s documentary ‘What Is A Woman?’ So, naturally, @eventbrite banned us for promoting hate, violence, and harassment.”

Bovard followed that tweet with one more, commenting, “Consider this your daily dispatch of Why Is Everything Unbearably Stupid?”
The email, sent by Eventbrite Trust and Safety, announced that the event listing had been removed from the site and then offered a lengthy explanation as to why the screening constituted a violation of the company’s community standards.
“We encourage our organizers to express their views and gather for a chosen purpose as long as it’s done in a way that doesn’t violate our Legal Terms. We do not permit events, content, or creators that promote or encourage hate, violence, or harassment towards others and/or oneself,” the letter read. “In this instance, we have determined that your event expresses views that are in violation of our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service and is therefore not permitted on the Eventbrite platform. As a result, your event listing has been removed.”
The letter continued with a warning, noting that while CPI was certainly welcome to utilize the platform for future events, any that were deemed equally offensive would also be removed from the site as well.
“Please note that severe or repeated violations of our policies could result in your account being terminated,” the letter concluded. “We appreciate your understanding and thank you in advance for your cooperation.”
Eventbrite has removed other screenings of Walsh’s documentary as well, including one that was to be hosted by Turning Point USA in September.
Eventbrite removed our event to watch @MattWalshBlog “What is a Woman”. The event will still be happening. Show up and let’s show Eventbrite that their censorship will not stop us. It’s next Tuesday, September 13, 6pm in DSU 2123. https://t.co/h9sDcNv0Za
