President Biden has spent over a fourth of his presidency in home state Delaware, outpacing both former President Barack Obama and former President Donald Trump’s days spent away from his official White House residence.

About 21 months into his term, Biden has visited home state Delaware 55 times, totaling 174 days as of Sunday, according to CNN. Biden has visited the Camp David presidential retreat 19 times, for all or part of 64 days.

Of Biden’s 636 days in office as of Tuesday, he has spent more than 37% of his time as president at Camp David or at one of his two homes in Delaware.

The Bidens take their pets, a German Shepard and a cat, with them to Delaware and occasionally have an entire vehicle dedicated solely to transporting their four-legged friends, a person told CNN.

“Presidents of the United States are constantly on the job, regardless of their location,” White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates said. “And as all Americans can agree, it’s important for leaders to avoid becoming ensconced in Washington, DC.”

First lady Jill Biden’s former press secretary Michael LaRosa said: “It is 2022, not 1922. If the rest of the country can work from home, so can the president.”

If Biden continues visiting Camp David and Delaware at this pace, he is set to spend more than 540 days there during this presidency. This is slightly down from an estimate this summer showing that he was on track to spend more than 550 days on vacation.

By comparison, Trump spent 383 days on his properties for what he called “working vacations” during his four years in office. Obama spent 328 days on vacation during his eight years in office.
