A Wisconsin jury on Wednesday found Darrell Brooks guilty of killing six people after he drove his SUV into a Christmas Parade in Waukesha last November.

Brooks, 40, represented himself at the trial. He pleaded not guilty to six intentional homicide charges and 70 other crimes related to the attack that injured 62 people, Axios reported. Other charges include reckless endangerment while using a dangerous weapon and six charges of hit-and-run causing death.

Brooks faces a mandatory life prison sentence for the convictions, CNN reported.

“He reached speeds of approximately 30 mph. That’s intentional. He plowed through 68 different people. 68. How can you hit one and keep going? How can you hit two and keep going?” Waukesha County prosecutor Susan Opper said during closing arguments Tuesday.

Brooks said repeatedly told jurors that his trial contained “misconceptions” and “lies.”

Jurors deliberated for about two hours Tuesday evening and resumed discussions again on Wednesday morning.

At the time of the incident, Brooks was out on $1,000 bail for a domestic abuse case two weeks prior.
