“That’s the intent here, is to just make it clear what was happening, and provide transparency about the past, and in doing so, to build trust about the future,” said Elon Musk in Twitter Spaces conference call on Saturday.

When the Soviet Union collapsed and the Berlin Wall came down, the East German state security police organization — the Stasi — tried to burn and shred 40 years of documented evidence of their spying on private citizens, oppression, human rights violations and more.

Protesters who occupied the Stasi headquarters stopped that from happening with totality, recovering more almost a billion pieces of shredded or torn documents.

Musk is occupying Twitter HQ now, and he’s got the digital remains that the prior Twitter regime tried so hard to keep secret, and the Democrats and media are trying to cover-up still as we speak.

But that ain’t gonna happen.

He said embarrassing governments and politicians who are trying to get tweets they don’t like taken down by exposing what they’re doing, they’ll be less likely to do it.

I mean that’s the idea. But the media is complicit and guilty, too, so it’s going to require extra vigilance and extra effort to make the disinfecting sunlight expose these abuses.

Here’s hoping.
