Red states like Florida and Texas that have been shipping thousands of illegal immigrants to “sanctuary cities” like DC, New York, and, perhaps funniest of all, Martha’s Vineyard, have gotten a good bit of attention for doing so, with leftists claiming that their bussing programs are “racist” rather than thanking Abbott and DeSantis for blessing those cities with yet more “diversity.”

In fact, they’ve now sent so many illegals to New York City that the city is expected to foot a bill of more than half a billion dollars to deal with them, with Breitbart reporting that:

New Yorkers are expected to foot a bill that totals “at least” $600 million to provide public services, housing, and education for the thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens. The majority of those arriving are so poor that they are remaining in the city’s overloaded homeless shelter system.

But, while Kamala Harris awkwardly waits for the illegal immigrants dropped off outside her house to be taken somewhere else and NYC Mayor Eric Adams fumes about the thousands of illegals sent his way by red states, other people in their party are waking up and deciding that maybe sending illegals elsewhere isn’t the worst decision.

One such place, apparently, is the blue state of Colorado, with Governor Jared Polis, a Democrat, sending Mayor Eric Adams the supposed blessing of more illegal immigrants and “diversity”. News on that broke when Mayor Adams complained about it on a radio show, saying:

We were notified yesterday that the governor of Colorado is now stating that they are going to be sending migrants to places like New York and Chicago. This is just unfair for local governments to have to take on this national obligation.”

POLITICO, adding more context to Polis’ decision to ship illegal immigrants out of Colorado to New York City, reported that:

However, the Democratic governor told POLITICO shortly afterward that the state has been helping asylum seekers reach their final destinations — including New York City — for weeks. The only change has been a recent winter storm and ensuing travel catastrophe that created a backlog of migrants wanting to leave Denver, which is now being cleared.

Polis, for his part, suggested that the state is helping bus the migrants around because they want to leave the state, saying, according to POLITICO, There is a lot of pent-up demand right now and a lot of frustration among our migrants who have been trapped for a week or two in a place they didn’t want to be through no fault of their own.

Similarly, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock said, in the context of a Polis-announced “partnership including the state, the city and local nonprofits designed to beef up transportation services for asylum seekers trying to get out of Colorado” that:

I appreciate [Polis] and the State for leaning in to support those coming to our city to reach their preferred destinations, and to help reduce the number of people in our shelters and more quickly connect them with community supports and other options. I’ve talked with other mayors around the country and we’re united in our call for Congress to work with the Biden Administration to provide the assistance we need to manage this situation.
