Former President Donald Trump on Monday again congratulated fellow Republican Kevin McCarthy for persevering in his hard-fought effort last week to win the House speakership, then suggested they join forces to stop another member of their party, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
The Kentucky Republican most recently drew the ire of his party for what Trump and some others consider his weak effort to stop Democrats in the last congressional session from passing a massive appropriations bill.
“Great job Kevin! We must now stop Mitch McConnell and his China flagrant boss, Coco Chow,” Trump posted on Truth Social, referring to McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, who was Trump’s transportation secretary.
“It’s as though [McConnell] just doesn’t care anymore, he pushes through anything the Democrats want,” Trump continued. “The $1.7 TRILLION quickly approved Bill of the week before was HORRIBLE.”
Had McConnell “waited just ten days,” the new GOP-led Congress could have cut a better deal — or stopped the legislation in its tracks altogether, the former president argued.
“Something is wrong with McConnell, and those Republican Senators that Vote with him,” Trump concluded. “PRIMARY THEM ALL!!!”
