Embattled, newly-elected GOP Rep. George Santos reiterated Thursday he has no intentions of resigning his largely fabricated resume that helped him win a House seat in November 2022.

“I came to serve the people, not party leaders,” the New York lawmaker said on the “Steve Bannon’s War Room” show of the Real America’s Voice channel.

Santos has been hounded about whether he’ll resign after revelations several weeks ago that he exaggerated and lied about his education and work history.

The matter escalated Wednesday when leaders of the the Nassau County Republican Party called on Santos to resign. Part of the congressional district the Santos represents includes the county.

Leaders of the GOP-led House have not made efforts to removed him.

“I don’t want to stay here forever,” Santos also said Thursday. “I want to come here, do the best I can, and deliver for the American people.”

He also faces investigations from Brazilian prosecutors, who alleged that in 2008 he forged checks to buy about $700 worth of clothing and shoes, and from the Nassau County District Attorney over the fabricated resume.

Santos has also falsely claimed his mother was at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001 and that his grandparents fled the Holocaust.
