The second batch of classified documents that President Joe Biden retained from his tenure as vice president was discovered at his home in Wilmington, Delaware.

NBC News first reported the second discovery on Wednesday, citing sources close to the matter. However, at the time, it was not clear where the documents were found, how many documents had been found, what level of classified information had been improperly retained, and what information the documents contained.

But on Thursday, Richard Sauber, a special counsel to the president, confirmed that more classified documents had been found at Biden’s private Delaware home.

According to Sauber, after personal attorneys for Biden discovered classified documents at his private office in Washington on Nov. 2, Biden’s attorneys began searching Biden’s two Delaware residences for more documents. At some point during the search, they discovered more documents inside Biden’s garage.

The statement said:

During the review, the lawyers discovered among personal and political papers a small number of additional Obama-Biden Administration records with classified markings. All but one of these documents were found in storage space in the President’s Wilmington residence garage. One document consisting of one page was discovered among stored materials in an adjacent room.

Biden’s attorneys immediately notified the Justice Department when they discovered the documents, Sauber explained.

Sauber, however, “did not answer fundamental questions about the contents of the documents, who packed them and whether anyone had gained access to them after he left office. It also did not say when the second batch had been found,” the New York Times reported.

It’s also not clear why the White House did not disclose the discovery at the same time officials admitted to the discovery at Biden’s private office, but only waited to confirm the second batch of classified documents after the media began reporting on it.

Biden was asked about the second discovery Thursday morning, and he responded by downplaying the seriousness of retaining classified documents in an unsecured location.

Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy asked, “Classified materials, next to your Corvette? What were you thinking?”

“My Corvette’s in a locked garage, OK? So it’s not like they’re sitting out on the street,” Biden responded.
