Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) criticized the Biden administration’s “lack of transparency” over the three batches of classified documents found in President Joe Biden‘s possession.

Since November, three batches of classified documents have been found at the Penn-Biden Center and the president’s Wilmington, Delaware, home — all of which date back to Biden’s time as vice president in the Obama-Biden Administration.

Jordan said in an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on Sunday that the American people did not hear of these discoveries that occurred in early November and December last year until January, and only after a news report came out about the controversy.

“They can say they’re being transparent about that, but its anything but,” Jordan said.

The discovery that Biden harbored classified documents comes after the House voted to create a subcommittee within the House Judiciary Committee to investigate the “weaponization” of the Justice Department.

Jordan, who chairs the committee, said the goal is to eliminate the “double standard” within the department.

“2020, they suppress the Hunter Biden story. 2022, they raid [Trump’s] home 91 days before an election, but they don’t tell us about Joe Biden’s classified document issue that they knew about prior to the [2022 midterm] election,” Jordan said.

The Ohio representative’s opinion echoed that of several Republicans, including Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who said how the two situations were handled were just “hypocrisy.” Prior to the midterm election, over 300 documents were taken from former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort after the FBI raided his home in a very public display.

Jordan added that step one to stopping this behavior is “exposing it.” He compared the treatment of rioters at the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot to the Blake Lives Matter riots and protests in summer 2020, as well as the difference in response to actions taken by pro-life versus pro-choice activists.

“These are the things we’re going to examine in this select committee and make sure that the truth is out there for the American people,” Jordan said.

Democrats have also weighed in on the discovery that Biden had classified documents. Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) acknowledged the situation as “embarrassing” in a Sunday interview on NBC News’ “Meet the Press.”

“It’s certainly embarrassing, right?” she said. “It’s embarrassing that you would find a small number of documents, certainly not on purpose. They don’t think its the right thing.”

However, she said the handling of the situation should come down to intent.

“I heard you say that someone described it as two car accidents: One was an accident and the other on purpose,” Stabenow said to host Chuck Todd. “This is very much about how it’s being handled.”

She pointed to the Biden’s administration statement that they are “cooperating fully” with federal investigators and DOJ-appointed special counsel Robert Hur.

“They take it very, very seriously, and they’re talking to all of the right people,” the Michigan senator said. “They’re not going to defy subpoenas or require FBI raids to be able to get the documents.”

“It’s totally different right now, both serious in terms of having classified documents, but the president is doing the right thing,” Stabenow continued.
