It’s as if these Biden admin bros simply can’t take “no” for an answer — or they take each time they get pushed back as invitation to a tag-team mortal death match.
In this particular case, the first shot across the bow was the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s announcement that they were considering a ban on the future sale of gas stoves.
A commissioner with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is proposing a ban on gas stoves, calling them a “hidden hazard.”
In an interview with Bloomberg News Monday, Richard Trumka Jr. said all options would be on the table to regulate the appliances, which have been shown to be harmful to both human health and the environment, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
“Products that can’t be made safe can be banned,” Trumka said, adding the commission could also consider imposing new emissions standards on the appliances. Trumka is one of several commissioners on the CPSC.
Trumka later clarified in a tweet that any new regulations would apply only to new appliances.
“To be clear, CPSC isn’t coming for anyone’s gas stoves. Regulations apply to new products,”
That blew up in Mr. Trumka’s face about as violently as a leaking gas line in an earthquake next to a house fire, and the backpedaling was fast and furious.
“Oh, we’re NOT COMING FOR YOUR GAS STOVE!” denizens of the D.C. department hurriedly assured a skeptical and thoroughly outraged public. “COOL YOUR JETS!”
The heat was so intense, the Washington Post felt compelled to do a sympathy puff piece on the publicly martyred Richard Trumka Jr., because, after all, [cue: Tucker Carlson voice] “He was only trying to SAVE THE CHILDREN…”
…Indeed, if there are recurrent themes in Trumka’s career, protecting young people would be a big one. He’s the father of two young children and is highly attentive to the risks they face in everyday life. To that end, the commission recently passed a rule to prevent cords in window coverings from accidentally strangling kids. Another recent rule seeks to prevent kids from swallowing magnets and suffering serious internal injuries.
In agreeing to talk to The Post, Trumka said he wanted to discuss topics other than gas stoves. Still, he acknowledged that there is a reason he cooks with an electric range at home: He wants to protect the lungs and health of his 3-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son.
“I won’t pretend that I do all the cooking in my house,” Trumka said. “But I pitch in, and I help. And so do my kids. And so if I didn’t have an electric stove, I might be thinking about a switch right now.”
OMG – he’s so nice! His motives are so pure. He helps around the house. How could you knuckle-dragging gas-cooking cretins possibly whomp up on someone like this?!
I warned you last week it wasn’t over. State and local municipalities were gunning for your gas. Some places and authorities are already way out ahead of the feds in eliminating access to natural gas entirely.
But I didn’t see this one coming, and, knowing the fanatics we are stuck dealing with, I should have.

It’s that time again. We get to play Biden Administration Authoritarian Whack-A-Mole…
The Energy Department put the gas stove debate on the front burner again Wednesday by proposing new efficiency standards for consumer cooking appliances.
…with their usual disingenuous disclaimer, to wit: Not a ban – trust us.
…“As required by Congress, the Department of Energy is proposing efficiency standards for gas and electric cooktops — we are not proposing bans on either,” a department spokesperson said in a statement. “The proposed standards would not go into effect until 2027 and cumulatively save the nation up to $1.7 billion. Every major manufacturer has products that meet or exceed the requirements proposed today.”
The department said in the proposal that it had “tentatively concluded” the proposed standards represented meaningful gains and that they were “technologically feasible and economically justified, and would result in the significant conservation of energy.”
…The standards would be a shift from existing rules, which prohibit constant burning pilot lights in gas stoves but do not put limits on energy consumption.
Our totalitarian government is coming for our gas stoves.

Your high-efficiency washing machine no longer gets clothes clean while reeking of mildew, everyone I know complains about their dishwashers, lightbulbs are a whole ‘nuther discussion and now they want to take your burners away – cut the BTUs down. That’s the only way you can cut consumption. (While having already proven I’m not a nuclear physicist, I can do that math.).
Biden Administration Authoritarian Whack-A-Mole.
I hate their games.
